About the speaker: Dr Javed Wani is a senior assistant professor at Dr B. R. Ambedkar University of Delhi. He is the Honourary Head of Publication and Research at the Center for Studies of Plural Societies. His area of expertise is the History(ies), Culture(s) and politics of South Asia, particularly India. Dr. Wani has authored a book “Sovereign Anxiety: Public Order and the Politics of Control in India, 1915-1955”, published by Cambridge University Press and several papers, news reports, book chapters, and review articles on various political issues.His broad research interests are around issues pertaining to the nature of State, operations of Ideology, terrains of violence and configurations of resistance. Currently interested in issues such as ‘law making and law enforcing’, ‘governmentality’, ‘surveillance’ and ‘state of exception’.
