Visiting Fellow

Dr. Tarushikha Sarvesh is a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Studies of Plural Societies, New Delhi and an Assistant Professor and researcher of Sociology and Gender Studies at Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies, Aligarh Muslim University. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi. She is a trained journalist and has practised journalism earlier. She is a member of the Development Studies Association and has published in various national and international research journals and edited volumes. She also undertakes projects and translation work with the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), a digital archiving platform. She regularly contributes to media platforms including national dailies.
She was selected as part of a cohort of researchers working at the intersection of caste, gender and work opportunities for a conference at Cambridge University held in June 2023. She was part of a summer programme on conflict narratives at Rothberg International School, Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
She has directed two major projects granted by Massey University, New Zealand and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) on “Gender Digital Divide in India and neighbouring countries” and “Women and Social Exclusion in the Turmoil Zones of Kashmir” respectively. Currently, she is directing an ICSSR project titled, “Mainstreaming Schedule Tribes’ Identity and Knowledge Systems: A Study on Social Inclusion of Select Tribes of Madhya Pradesh and Sunderban Region of West Bengal.” She specializes in field-based studies and qualitative research designs.
